About Gav
I’m originally from Dublin but have lived in Toronto and Belfast for a couple of years each so don’t be shocked if I have an odd accent first time we meet! I first began coaching in 2015 after completing my BSc in Sports & Exercise in UCD.
The most rewarding part of coaching and owning the Hitsona Bangor fitness studio is seeing how much people’s mental health can transform by getting fitter and healthier. Nothing makes me prouder than when a member tells me they fit into an old dress or are feeling more confident and less anxious than they’ve felt in years!
My favourite sessions to coach are Saturday mornings because everyone is buzzing being the weekend and there’s a great atmosphere in studio.

In September 2021 I began my fitness coaching journey, attending a Level 3 Qualification course. Taking a step back from full-time waork and focusing on my new career was scary and tough but change always is. By January 2022 I had achieved my level 2 cert and got my first fitness coaching job at Hitsona Bangor.
I love to try new workouts and meet new members, because it’s all about energy and if I’m confident and relaxed the members become it too. After achieving my level 3 personal training certificate I have jumped full-time into coaching, leaving my previous job behind!
I became Studio Manager in March 2023 and now get to talk to more potential members over the phone and in-person before they join our community which I love!
My favourite Hitsona session to coach would be one of my own invention – dice, dice baby! It involves luck, fun and of course rolling dice!

I was born in South America, Guyana. I have lived in Belfast since I was two years old. I have had a passion for health & fitness since I was a teenager, finally in June 2021 I completed my level two fitness instructor certificate.
Hitsona Bangor is my first job as a ‘fitness coach’ and it feels like the best job in the world! Coaching people to achieve their goals, seeing gym members get fitter, stronger and more confident is extremely rewarding. For me, fitness is not just about how you look, it’s about how you feel, and I love helping people to feel good about themselves.
My favourite sessions to coach are ‘circuits’ and ‘core’, as I love thinking of new, creative exercises that will help to challenge and keep things interesting for members of every age, size and shape!
