High intensity interval training workouts, or HIIT sessions as they are commonly called, involve short bursts of high intensity exercise followed by a short period of rest or active recovery. They include both aerobic exercise and strength training in the same session, and usually only last between 10 and 30 minutes, but can produce health benefits similar to twice as much moderate-intensity exercise.<\/p>\n

What are the health benefits of HIIT?<\/strong>
A study published in the ACSM Health & Fitness Journal presented encouraging results in relation to cardiometabolic and brain health.<\/p>\n

The research suggested that interval training had benefits for brain health in both healthy and clinical populations, including those at risk from or diagnosed with chronic diseases that affect neurological function such as Stroke, Parkinson\u2019s Disease and ADHD.\u00a0 HIIT in clinical populations also showed enhancements in motor function, learning, memory and attention.<\/p>\n
